Default server linux?

I'm making a server for an mmorpg, i am sure i want to use linux, just not sure which flavor, fedora or ubuntu. I heard fedora is faster and has more updates, but ubuntu is more stable and more secure. I have no idea which way to go, but speed and security are my main concern. This server must host 3-4 ports, and be firewalled, and possibly have a packet filter. Which should i use fedora or ubuntu?

You know... it's a question of taste.
Debian or Red hat based.
I use Ubuntu 7.10 at the office. I have found that even the little rug rats who think they know what they are doing, can't get through...

My opinion, U 7.10 server edition, and set it up as per these instructions...

Fair warning. A Linux Server... white text on black background. Terminal only.

Take a look at Xampp and also look at Webmin. makes for a nice easy front end to keep track of things with.

Onle you have a good LAMP stack running, they all operate about the same..

Welcome Aboard....

Default Installing GCC compiler in Ubuntu?

I've never had anyone recommend ubuntu for a server. It's too oriented to the desktop experience.

I suggest Fedora. Works like a champ for me on many machines.

PCLinuxOS Business Edition is a complete server. It's stable enough that I've been running it as a commercial web site 24/7 for months.
