Default I'm going to reinstall windows?

I'm going to reinstall windows. I already have a CD with internet explorer on it (downloaded from DELL driver's and utilites)

My question is...will it erase Microsoft word?
I borrowed somebody else's Microsft Office CD to download that...and we don't want to lose it.

What if I put Microsoft office on a CD?
I right clicked Microsoft Word and clicked SEND TO and there was a whole bunch of options and I picked CD. So I inserted a CD with the Internet Explorer on it (from Drivers and Utilities) and now Microsoft Office is on there.
I'm just afraid it will not open after I reinstall windows.

Hi yes if you reinstall windows you will format the drive unless your doing an update and it will remove the prgrams, right clicking and then clicking send to will just send a short cut to the disk. So I recommend do the re-install and then download Open Office it is basically microsoft office and is fully compatable with it but the difference is its Free!

I'm afraid a lot of what you would obviously like to do is just not that simple!

You cannot put a copy of Word (or anything else) so simply onto your own CD. To install an application, you actually need the special installation files (like the original CD you had before).

When you reinstall windows, it will reinstall Internet Explorer for you. Windows installations will always install Internet Explorer for you.

As for Microsoft Office, you have to reinstall that separately after you install your Windows. Every other software that were NOT made by Windows, including drivers, will have to be reinstalled.

1. Sending to a CD will only move the shortcut to the CD, not the program, so it wont work
2. Make sure to keep the drivers and utilities cd. You will probably need it. when I reinstalled windows, I needed to reinstall network drivers and sound drivers.
3. IE (explorer) is already built into windows, so you don't need to save it either
4. get openoffice.org, its just like Microsoft office, but free
5. Good luck!
6. Get a Mac

The question is though, why are you reinstalling windows is it just for internet explorer that you downloaded?

If you just want to reinstall IE you can use add remove programs and then click add remove windows components in there you will see internet explorer.

As to Office copying ALL the files to cd is the only way but also one major thing you will need. The CD Key the code that licenses the office installation that is on the cd you cannot find at the moment so as suggested if you get really stuck then just use open office as a work around
